The BNSF Logistics Consulting Services (CS) team provides strategic services that maximize the customer’s supply chain efficiency. The CS team is empowered to help each customer create winning supply chain strategies that support the customer’s business approach and objectives. The combination of leading technology and real-world operations experience ensures that the solutions proposed by BNSF Logistics are tangible and practical. CS focus areas include:

  • Logistics Network Design: using sophisticated optimization software, all or part of a network is analyzed and potential cost savings and improved service levels are determined.
  • Site Rationalization: through supply chain technology, the feasibility of an existing facility network is evaluated and potential locations for new facilities are recommended.
  • Route Optimization: utilizing the best routing and scheduling tools, consolidation opportunities can improve inventory velocity and reduce transportation expenditures.
  • Private Fleet Analysis: using domiciling software, shipping patterns are analyzed to optimize existing fleet size and determine whether a private or dedicated fleet would be more cost-effective
  • Transportation Procurement: rate benchmarking and analysis is provided and carrier bids and contract negotiations are administered.
  • Logistics Best Practices: procedures are benchmarked against the industry’s leading practices and individual customer productivity levels are compared to best-in-class standards.
  • Business Process Analysis: current processes are documented and recommendations for improved processes are provided.
  • Transportation Management Systems Analysis: data management needs are evaluated and suggestions for the appropriate transportation management system are offered.
