Internships

The BNSF Logistics Internship program gives college students practical, on-the-job experience in a business environment. The time spent as an intern lets the student evaluate BNSF Logistics for future employment, just as it lets BNSF Logistics evaluate the intern as a future employee. During internship, a student receives evaluations based on his or her performance and overall contribution to the organization. BNSF Logistics uses these evaluations as a basis for future hiring consideration.

Internship Candidates
Candidates for internships are typically full-time students currently enrolled at a college or university who are pursuing an undergraduate or a graduate degree in a field of study that supports BNSF Logistics business objectives.

BNSF Logistics recruits candidates from college campuses, minority student referral programs, the Internet, employee referrals, and unsolicited resumes.

Sponsoring Departments
Interns are assigned to a department, which directs the intern's activities on specific projects and work assignments. BNSF Logistics departments that seek interns include:

  • Accounting/Finance
  • Engineering
  • Human Resources
  • Marketing
  • Technology Services
  • Transportation/Operations
  • Other Support Departments

Internship Locations
While most assignments are at the corporate headquarters in Springdale, AR, some interns are placed in field locations across the nation.

What To Expect
The program includes an orientation with an overview of corporate policies and appropriate conduct. Interns participate in several key activities throughout their program, including:

  • Presentations by various department leaders
  • Exposure to various BNSF Logistics departmental activities
  • Networking opportunities
